Rodenticide products with the new stewardship labels starting to appear
Anticoagulant rodenticide products carrying the new, legally-binding stewardship labels are starting to appear on distributors’ shelves. Thinking this was an easy task, Pest set-out to discover which ‘new’ products were already in stock.
30 September 2016 is the last day that old pre-stewardship label stocks can be sold.
31 March 2017 is the last day that users can use pre-stewardship labelled products.

DeltaGard is the first and only Type II pyrethroid registered in the United States for wide area mosquito control. This is significant because Type II pyrethroids exhibit longer-lasting inhibition of the sodium channel activation gate when compared to Type I pyrethroids, making them extremely effective against mosquitoes and other target pests. TYPE I VS II First and second generation pyrethroids Type 2 deltamethrin contains alpha-cyano group consists of a carbon atom triple-bonded to a nitrogen atom. Both types are Pyrethroids which are Class 3 Sodium Chanel Modulator Pyrethroid exposure in insects is predominately through the insect cuticle. Rapid absorption particularly with the halogen-containing pyrethroids, causes disruption of insect neurotransmission impulses that travel along the axons of neurons and result from the movement of Sodium Na+ and potassium (K+) ions across the membrane resulting in hyperpolarization of the membrane or neuron depolarization and conduction block causing knockdown and possibly death within seconds to minutes. for more info on Class Mode Of Action see http://cdn.intechopen.com/pdfs-wm/37969.pdf http://impulse.appstate.edu/sites/impulse.appstate.edu/files/2009_03_09_Catlin.pdf http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3286848/ http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1277854/

Type 1 permethrin was the first photostable pyrethroids developed 1973 which can persist on plant cuticles and have a more prolonged insecticidal action when compared to other more photolabile chemicals like pyrethrum.
