[2016-05-11] After an outbreak of Ockelbo disease in northern Sweden in 2013, researchers at Umeå University were able to trace the virus to mosquitos in an area of Lövånger. In a new study, researchers have shown that mosquito larvae in the Västerbotten region also carry virus that can cause infectious disease. These include the Sindbis virus, which causes Ockelbo disease, which is associated with fever, rashes and prolonged joint pain.

Mosquito Misting Systems
The misting system original market is primarily for Horses, Barns, and livestock for fly and odor control known as AUTOMATIC ULV SPRAYING SYSTEMS but in recent years the residential mosquito control market is starting to take off for these types of units. But these systems with the ugly 55 gallon blue or black drum did not sit well with the affluent clients that buy them.

Good, Bad and the ugly of Misting Systems, they are not set it and forget it systems.
Tank, lines and valves get mold and clog most require a once a year service.
Water needs to filtered to eliminate minerals that can build up.
Using them near bodies of water or ponds is a problem 75 to 100 feet.
The active ingredients in most misting system concentrates are Permathrin or Pirethrums

Low toxicity to humans. mammals and birds.
Highly toxic to bees, pollinators and fish, aquatic vertebrates.
PBO Piperonyl Butoxide http://online.liebertpub.com/doi/pdfplus/10.1089/vbz.2016.1940
Piperonyl butoxide Derived from naturally-occurring safrole which is in many natural products like cinnamon
https://www.erowid.org/archive/rhodium/chemistry/safrolefaq.html
Piperonyl butoxide is very low in toxicity it has an oral LD50 of Greater than 5000 mg/kg
PBP is Classified as Group C carcinogen Bifenthrin, permathrin and cypermethrin is in that group.
Group A–Human Carcinogen.
Group B–Probable Human Carcinogen.
Group C–Possible Human Carcinogen.
Group D–Not Classifiable As To Human Carcinogenicity.
Group E–Evidence Of Non-Carcinogenicity For Humans.
The American Mosquito Association does not endorse Misting Systems because of the risk associated with killing bees, pollinators and the possible contamination of surface waters which most of these products are highly toxic to fish.
