How do we understand and determine the effectiveness of a German roach control service? On today’s episode of Pestgeek Podcast, host and Integrated Pest Management Professional Franklin ‘The Pestgeek’ Hernandez shows how glue boards are placed under the refrigerator and stove to monitor the reduction of a German roach population. This one in particular was placed on a Friday and inspected on a Monday. Live nymphs are clearly visible. After 3 months of service, this board contains about 3 times less than on previous visits. Many customers insist on a one time service. This is not possible however and Franklin explains why through a brief overview of German roach biology. On this board, we see about 35 nymphs. Why is this important to take into account. The ratio of nymphs to adults is about 80/20. On this occasion, we see egg casing. The reality is we need about 3 visits to attain a dramatic decrease of the infestation. Franklin explains why. Watch the video!
