Hemlock Woolly Adelgid Found in Kentucky
A small devastating insect has been found in eastern Kentucky infesting hemlocks. Dr. John Obrycki, Department of Entomology chair and State Entomologist, has confirmed that the hemlock woolly adelgid has come to Kentucky. More details are contained in this news release from the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture. A new factsheet outlines options to manage the Hemlock Woolly Adelgid.

Ovillanta Used Tire Mosquito Trap with Pyriproxyfen
Liquid attractant is drained, filtered, and put back in the tire, and is designed to concentrate mosquito pheromones, making the traps progessively more attractive with each use, according to the report. Researchers had used a similar device to battle a West Nile virus outbreak in northern Ontario.
